Certified Fitness Coach

Athletes and celebrities have great success in maintaining healthy fitness routines by employing Personal Trainers to help stay on track. That’s a great solution, but the expense involved can be substantial, putting Personal Trainers out of the reach of the average person. But here’s a great alternative: Member employees of TotalCare Wellness can work with a certified Fitness Coach at no expense to develop a custom fitness plan and to get telephonic coaching, tips and support until they reach their personal goals.

Here’s how it works: A simple phone call starts the process and connects the Member employee with a Certified Fitness Coach, who conducts an assessment of the Member’s current fitness status, goals and motivation levels. The Fitness Coach then works with the Member to develop a realistic Fit Plan to achieve those goals. The Coach helps identify the types of exercise that will work best for the Member, monitors progress, and provides suggestions and encouragement. The Coach also identifies local fitness facilities and opportunities such as gym membership through the Member’s health insurance program.

Once underway, the Coach and Member meet periodically by telephone to monitor progress, adjust the Fit Plan as needed, and strategize to overcome any obstacles.

Fitness coaching is a great benefit because today’s world is more and more sedentary. People’s jobs used to include lots of physical activity, but today many of us are desk-bound. And our leisure time is filled with more and more time sitting in cars or in front of TVs, computers and mobile devices. The average American now spends more time sitting than sleeping. This poses a serious health risk. Inactivity can lead to premature aging, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other life-limiting illnesses.

Being physically active is one of the most important steps that people of all ages can take to improve their health. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recommends that adults engage in at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity physical activity.

Our Fitness Coaches are expert at helping Members tailor realistic plans focused on small, incremental, achievable steps working to a longer goal. The focus is on long-term change rather than quick fixes. Our coaches are also great at helping to motivate and to find solutions to overcome obstacles and challenges so that Members can stay on course.
